Hey there, I’m Sam. I’m a writer, podcaster, vintage dealer, and brand strategist, based in Chicago.
I like vintage clothes, I talk too much, I’m chronically online, and I love to complain.
I’m a writer.
I write Losers Weepers, a Substack where I house all the things keeping me up at night: personal essays, style diaries, pop culture spirals, and more. It's my messy little internet universe for vintage collectors and overthinkers. Subscribe here.
I'm also actively pitching and writing for other publications—cultural commentary, reviews, and reported features on beauty, fashion, and culture, always with humor, and unapologetically strong opinions. I'm an oversharer with a knack for making my neuroses feel universal.
And a brand strategist.
From 9 to 5, you'll find me at Beatrix Creative, the branding and strategy studio I co-founded with my partner James.
I'm a brand strategist and creative director who helps small businesses and creatives figure out who they are and how to show up in the world. We do everything from brand strategy and positioning to web design, copywriting, and creative direction. If you're a small business or creative looking to feel more like yourself, we should talk.
I’m a podcast host.
I host Pessimistic at Best, a weekly podcast for those with a penchant for frequent frustrations, personal gripes, unpopular opinions, and honest observations.
Each week, I sit down with a guest to explore the good, the bad, and the ugly—everything from a surprisingly good country album to a bad bang trim during a manic episode. The list is endless, and therein lies the beauty. Come on in, we saved you a seat!
I’m a vintage dealer.
I'm a chronic thrifter who sells curated vintage finds under the name Losers Weepers Vintage.
Right now you can shop my collection on Depop, but the dream is to start doing vintage markets and pop-ups around Chicago. If you're looking for pieces with personality, come browse.

A bit more about me:
I'm a jill of all trades with too many creative outlets and a chronic inability to do just one thing at a time. On any given day, I'm juggling all of the above, while somehow squeezing in all of the New York Times games, and logging a few hours of doomscrolling before bed. Safe to say I haven't met my annual reading goal in several years.
I live with my partner, James, and our two cats in a vintage greystone in Logan Square. My apartment is my pride and joy—squeaky floors, wooden built-ins, and all. We’ve filled our space with cat trees and Facebook marketplace finds, and one of these days we’ll finally get around to painting the bedroom like we keep saying we’ll do. We love hosting dinner parties and rooftop hangs, and we hope to live here until we die or until we can afford to buy a house, whichever happens first.
As all good kids do, I blame my parents for the way that I am. After all, they’re the reason that I have twenty-seven hobbies and that I’m delusional enough to believe that I can make a career out of my many passions. My mom is an incredibly talented mixed media and acrylic artist, and my dad recently retired to live out the rest of his days as her part-time art fair roadie and woodworking connoisseur.
I’m an only child. I love cutting my own bangs, but I’ve yet to master winged eyeliner. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and I’m always on the hunt for the best eggs benedict. I’m morally opposed to intramural spots, and I believe I’ve already met (and conquered) my archnemesis.
